I document the process of making swords and I’m looking for a detail-oriented "Assembly Editor" to handle the first cuts of my YouTube content. This is a part-time, long-term role for someone who is highly organized and technically proficient in DaVinci Resolve.
-- Please do not apply if you aren’t familiar with, or do not use, Davinci Resolve --
We will be using a Proxy-to-Cloud workflow:
I will upload low-res Proxy Media to our shared Blackmagic Cloud storage.
You will perform the edit in a Blackmagic Cloud project.
No rendering required: Once your assembly is finished, I will open the project on my end, relink to my 4K masters, add technical captions, and handle the final export.
My audience expects a "raw" and authentic experience:
NO background music, fancy transitions, or color grading.
YES to clean, linear storytelling that highlights the satisfying sounds and visuals of craftsmanship (ASMR-style).
Deliverables: One 25–30 minute long-form assembly + one vertical "Short" per project.
Technical Requirements:
Software: Must be proficient in the latest version of DaVinci Resolve.
Connectivity: A stable internet connection (Fiber preferred) to sync Proxy files via Blackmagic Cloud.
Hardware: Ability to playback 1080p Proxy files smoothly.
Turnaround: Finished assembly within 24 hours of the final build footage being synced. I upload footage daily so you are able to edit as the project progresses, but the final deadline is 24 hours after the last clip is in.
Compensation & Stability:
Rate: $200 USD Monthly Retainer.
Scope: This covers up to 4 projects per month (1 Long-form Assembly + 1 Short-form per project). Note: I typically only complete ~3 projects per month, but the $200 is guaranteed.
Bonus: Any 5th project (or beyond) in a single month will be paid at a $50 bonus rate per project.
Payment: Guaranteed monthly pay via Wise (TransferWise).
Expected Effort:
I currently handle the editing myself, and because the style is "Raw & Linear" (no music/effects), a typical 25–30 minute assembly takes me approximately 5-7 hours. I am looking for an editor who can match or beat that efficiency once they are familiar with the workflow.
Note: This is a long-term position. I am looking for a partner to grow with the channel, not a one-time freelancer.
To prove you’ve read this entire post, please start your application with the word "ANVIL" in all caps.
Please send your portfolio (specifically looking for "Process," "Craft," or "ASMR" style edits).
