bout the Role
We're a US-based ecommerce brand building an augmented reality experience so customers can visualize our products before purchasing. We already have existing 3D renders and product scans (USDZ files) — we need someone to edit, refine, and enhance these renders by adding accessories, configuring product combinations, and preparing final assets optimized for AR on mobile.
This is not a "build from scratch" role. The base models and renders are done. We need someone who can take what we have and make it look great with the right accessories, staging, and AR-readiness.
What You'll Be Doing
Edit and refine existing 3D product renders
Add and arrange accessories onto base product models to show different configurations and bundle options
Optimize 3D models for AR delivery (USDZ for iOS, GLB/glTF for Android) — clean geometry, proper texturing, fast load times
Adjust materials, lighting, and textures so renders look realistic and match the actual products
Prepare AR-ready assets for embedding on Shopify product pages
Collaborate with our team on new accessory combinations and product staging as we expand
Requirements
Proficient in Blender, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, or similar 3D software
Experience working with USDZ and/or GLB/glTF file formats for AR
Strong understanding of PBR materials, lighting, and realistic product rendering
Ability to edit and modify existing 3D models (not just create from scratch)
Familiarity with AR asset optimization — polygon count, texture compression, file size
Attention to detail — products need to look accurate and true to life
Reliable internet and responsive communication
Nice to Have
Experience with Shopify AR / 3D product embeds
Familiarity with Apple's Reality Composer or Google's Scene Viewer
Experience rendering physical products for ecommerce
Portfolio showing product-focused 3D work
Compensation & Schedule
Part-time / contract to start with potential to grow into an ongoing role
Competitive hourly rate based on experience
