JOB OVERVIEW

am looking for a high-calibre remote assistant with strong strategic and editorial instincts, not simply someone to carry out administrative tasks. The right person will help me develop a credible and commercially useful public profile through LinkedIn, written thought leadership, and potentially a newsletter or email-based professional community.

This role would suit someone who understands how to help a senior professional build authority in a serious sector. I am looking for judgment, initiative, polish, and the ability to translate ideas into consistent, high-quality output.

What I Need Help With

1. LinkedIn strategy and execution
• Help shape a coherent LinkedIn presence aligned with my practice areas and business goals
• Turn voice notes, rough thoughts, articles, and case-related themes into polished posts
• Identify content themes that build authority, credibility, and engagement over time
• Maintain consistency in tone, presentation, and posting rhythm
• Advise on what is worth posting, how it should be framed, and how it fits into a broader strategy

2. Thought leadership development
• Support the creation of commentary, short articles, and insight pieces in areas such as ESG, regulation, risk, professional services, and legal developments
• Repurpose longer material into shorter-form content without losing quality or seriousness
• Help shape content around positioning, audience, and commercial relevance
• Bring editorial discipline to ideas so that output is clear, credible, and useful

3. Newsletter / community building
• Assist with setting up and developing an email/newsletter platform
• Help structure regular bulletins, updates, or curated commentary for a professional audience
• Think strategically about how to build an audience and community over time, rather than simply send content out
• Support systems for consistency, sign-ups, and distribution

4. Research and strategic support
• Carry out focused research on current legal, ESG, regulatory, and business topics
• Produce concise research notes and summaries that can feed into content and business development
• Identify trends, themes, or opportunities that may be worth commenting on publicly
• Help ensure content remains timely, relevant, and commercially intelligent

Who This Role Is For

This is for someone who can operate as a genuinely thoughtful right hand, with a mix of:
• content judgment
• editorial ability
• strategic awareness
• professional polish

I am not looking for a basic VA. I am looking for someone who can contribute ideas, improve positioning, and help build a serious professional presence over time.

Ideal Background

Strong candidates will likely have experience in one or more of the following:
• personal brand support for founders, consultants, lawyers, or executives
• LinkedIn content strategy
• newsletter writing or email audience development
• editorial, copywriting, or research roles
• professional services, legal, finance, ESG, or B2B sectors

Skills Required
• Excellent written English
• Strong editorial judgment and attention to tone
• Ability to understand complex or technical subject matter and express it clearly
• Confidence working with limited direction and helping shape the brief
• High reliability, responsiveness, and discretion

Useful additional skills:
• newsletter platforms such as Mailchimp, ConvertKit, or Substack
• light SEO awareness
• Canva or simple visual formatting
• familiarity with UK professional services or legal content

Tone and Standard

The work needs to feel:
• intelligent
• measured
• polished
• professional
• commercially aware

You should be able to help develop the voice of a senior barrister and adviser, not produce generic social media content.

Hours and Rate
• Part-time initially, with scope to grow
• Likely starting range: 10–20 hours per week
• Budget: $5–$10+ per hour, depending on experience and quality
• I am open to paying more for someone genuinely strong who can add strategic value

Trial Task

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a paid trial, for example:
• drafting 2–3 LinkedIn posts from rough notes
• proposing a content strategy for one month
• summarising an article or development into a professional bulletin-style format

I am looking to build a long-term working relationship with someone capable, thoughtful, and commercially switched on. The goal is not simply to outsource tasks, but to work with someone who can help develop a credible professional platform with real strategic value.
