Part-Time Video Editor for Instagram Reels
I’m looking for a part-time video editor to help edit Instagram Reels for my online coaching business.
Most videos are simple talking-head style content with captions, occasional B-roll, and simple statics. Nothing overly complex.
This will start as a trial role, as I haven’t worked with a dedicated editor before.
Work Volume
Starting volume:
7–10 videos per week
After the trial period:
20+ videos per week
Videos are typically sent in batches of 2–7 at a time.
Expected turnaround time per batch:
24–28 hours
Pay
Pay is per video, depending on complexity.
Typical range:
$3–$10 per video
Most edits are simple and will fall toward the lower end of that range.
Example Video Style
Here are examples of the type of videos I create:
How We Work
For each video I provide:
Raw footage
Script
Notes
Inspiration videos
The goal is that the editor can take the assets and deliver a video that is 90–95% ready without constant back-and-forth.
Communication will happen through Slack, with an occasional Zoom call if needed (usually once per week at most to start).
I’m based in California (PST time zone).
File Sharing (Important)
Raw footage will be sent through an iPhone shared folder.
Because of this workflow, having an iPhone is required for this role.
If you do not have an iPhone, please do not apply, as the workflow will not work.
Finished videos will be uploaded back to the same shared folder.
Trial Process
If you apply and are selected to move forward, there will be a short trial edit.
For the trial you will receive:
Raw footage
Script
Notes
Inspiration videos
Your task will be to edit and submit 2 completed videos based on those materials.
This helps me see your editing style and ability to follow direction before moving forward with ongoing work.
Questions to Answer
If you're interested, please reply and answer the following:
What is your average turnaround time per video?
If I send 10–15 videos per week, can you handle that volume?
How many revisions are included?
Are you comfortable communicating via Slack?
Do you currently own an iPhone and can access an iPhone shared folder?
Do you charge per video or hourly?
Next Step
If it looks like a good fit, we’ll schedule a quick Zoom call within the next 1–3 days.
I’m looking to test this immediately, so faster responses will get priority.
Thanks,
Nico
