JOB OVERVIEW

We make yo-yo tutorials that teach people tricks - from beginner to pro.

Check out our pre-existing video tutorials here as examples:

----------

----------

Our videos are short (3-5 min), punchy, and easy to follow. We need an editor who can take raw footage and turn it into something people actually want to watch all the way through.

This isn't slow, boring tutorial editing. This is retention editing - fast cuts, zooms, text overlays, slow-mo at the right ---------- nts. The kind of editing that keeps viewers hooked.

WHAT YOU'LL BE EDITING:

Each video teaches one yo-yo trick. The structure is usually:
- Quick hook showing the trick
- Step-by-step breakdown
- Slow-mo replays of key ---------- nts
- Tips and common mistakes
- Final demo

We film everything. You edit it into something clean and engaging.

EDITING STYLE WE NEED:

- Jump cuts to remove dead air and keep pacing tight
- Zoom cuts / punch-ins on hands and yo-yo for detail
- Slow-motion replays when demonstrating tricks
- Text overlays for steps, tips, and key points
- Clean transitions (nothing flashy - just smooth)
- Audio cleanup and music/sound balancing

Watch our channel to see the style: OFFSET Yoyo

WHAT "GOOD" LOOKS LIKE:

- Viewer watches the whole video (retention editing done right)
- Tricks are easy to follow (zooms and slow-mo at the right ---------- nts)
- Text overlays help, not distract
- Pacing feels energetic but not rushed
- Audio is clean and balanced

Essentially, just watch our current tutorials on our YouTube channel. That is the quality that we expect, nothing less.

WHAT WE DON'T WANT:

- Slow, boring edits with no energy
- Over-the-top effects that distract from the trick
- Missing the key ---------- nts that need slow-mo or zoom
- Sloppy text placement or timing
- "Good enough" mentality

REQUIREMENTS:

- Experience with retention-style editing (show me examples)
- Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve proficiency
- Understanding of YouTube pacing (you watch YouTube, you get it)
- Can turn around a 2-5 min video in 24 hours (preferably pumping out multiple tutorials a day)
- Reliable communication and consistent availability
- Eye for detail (timing, text placement, audio levels)

- Most importantly, I need you to be hard-working and dedicated. I don't care if you have the most talent for video editing. If you're lazy, this job won't cut it for you.

I'd rather train a person with good work ethic and average video editing skills than a person with poor work ethic and excellent video editing skills.

NICE TO HAVE:

- Experience editing youtube videos: short forms, long forms
- Motion graphics skills (After Effects)
- Understanding of YouTube analytics/retention
- Genuine interest in learning yo-yo, as these are yo-yo tutorials

COMPENSATION:

Starting at $15-20 USD per video (3-8 min length)
Rate can increase as you prove consistent quality.

We're building up volume over time - starting with a few videos per week, scaling as we grow.

Editors that we like working with & yield quality videos will get offered more projects we have in the pipeline!

TRAINING:

I'll personally train you on:
- Our specific editing style and pacing (You'll be trained by a YouTuber & senior editor with 1.3 million subscribers)
- What ---------- nts need slow-mo vs. zoom vs. text
- How we structure tutorials for retention
- Feedback on every video until you've got it

You'll get paid to learn retention editing that works for any YouTube channel.

WHY THIS ROLE:

I want someone who wants to get better at editing. If that's you, I'll help you build skills that work beyond just this channel.

You crush it here? There's more work and better rates as we grow.

HOW TO APPLY:

1. Send your portfolio (YouTube edits, tutorial edits, shorts/reels edits or retention-style work)

2. Answer these:
- What editing software do you use?
- What's your turnaround time for a 3-4 min video like our tutorials?
- What makes retention editing different from regular editing?

3. Watch one of our videos and tell me: What would you do differently?

(You can use AI to answer these questions; however, I want your real, sincere answers, not AI bullshit please)

Serious candidates will do a test:
- We send raw footage (10-20 min of filming)
- You edit it into a finished tutorial
- 24 hours to complete with comprehensive training

We respond within 48 hours.

REAL TALK:

I want someone who actually cares about getting better at this. Not just clocking in.

If you're that person, I'll invest in you. Train you properly. Help you build a portfolio that opens doors. The goal is we both grow from this.
