JOB OVERVIEW

This is NOT a drag-and-drop design job.

We need a designer who THINKS about what they're creating. Someone who reads copy and instinctively knows how to restructure it visually so people actually read it. Someone who spots awkward phrasing or AI-sounding bullshit and fixes it.

Someone who turns walls of text into scannable, engaging layouts that drive clicks.

If you just paste copy into Figma and make it "look nice" - this role isn't for you.
If you actively improve every email you touch - keep reading.

WHO WE ARE:
We're an email marketing agency helping premium DTC brands add additional revenue through email. Our emails don't just look good - they look SO GOOD, THEY SELL & MAKE ECOM CUSTOMERS FALL IN LOVE.

THE PROBLEM YOU'LL SOLVE:
Our copywriters write the messaging. But copy alone doesn't convert. YOU transform that copy into visual experiences that:
- Guide the reader's eye exactly where we want it
- Break up text so it's actually readable on mobile
- Create visual rhythm that keeps people scrolling
- Make the CTA impossible to miss

WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT:
You're not just a designer. You're a visual editor. When you receive copy, you:
- Read it critically (Does this flow? Does this make sense?)
- Restructure it visually (How do I break this into digestible chunks?)
- Flag issues proactively ("This section is confusing - here's how I'd reword it")
- Add visual storytelling (Icons, dividers, imagery that reinforces the message)
- Optimize for scanning (Most people skim - make key points pop)
- FIND what you need to make it great (Missing a product image? You go find it. Need a lifestyle shot? You source it. You don't wait to be spoon-fed every asset - you take initiative to make the email as good as it can be.)

WHAT YOU'LL DESIGN:
- 25 emails per week (5+ per day)
- Campaign emails: Product launches, sales, promotions, content
- Flow emails: Welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase, winback
- Style: Premium, high-converting, mobile-first

WHAT "HIGH QUALITY" MEANS TO US:
- Visual hierarchy that guides the eye (not everything screaming for attention)
- White space used strategically (breathing room, not emptiness)
- Text broken into scannable chunks (no walls of copy)
- Pattern interrupts that keep readers engaged (not the same layout repeated)
- CTAs that stand out without being obnoxious
- Mobile-first design (thumb-friendly, fast-loading)
- Brand consistency across every email

Examples of the quality we expect: ----------

WHAT WE DON'T WANT:
- Generic templates with copy pasted in
- Designs that look pretty but ignore readability & conversion
- "Set it and forget it" mentality
- Designers who wait to be told what to fix
- Big blocks of text because "that's what the copy said"

REQUIREMENTS:
- 1+ years designing e-commerce emails (show me emails, not websites)
- Portfolio showing BEFORE/AFTER or explaining your design decisions
- Figma proficiency
- Strong eye for typography and spacing
- Understanding of email rendering constraints
- Fluent English (you'll be suggesting copy edits)
- Can commit to 9 emails weekly, consistently

YOU'LL STAND OUT IF YOU:
- Can articulate WHY you made specific design choices
- Have reworded or restructured copy to improve an email
- Understand what makes people click (not just what looks good)
- Notice things others miss (alignment, spacing, flow issues)
- Are opinionated about design (and can back it up)
- Have worked with premium/luxury brands

COMPENSATION:
$400USD /month

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:
- Creative ownership (we want your input, not just execution)
- Work with premium brands (portfolio pieces you'll be proud of)
- Consistent weekly volume (predictable income)
- Direct feedback loop (we share what's converting)
- Growth path to Senior Designer / Art Director as we scale

HOW TO APPLY:
1. Send your portfolio (email designs specifically)
2. Tell me:

- What's the difference between a good email design and a great one?
- Tell me about a time you improved copy or layout beyond what was asked
- What do most email designers get wrong?

(You can use AI to answer these questions; however, I want your real, sincere answers, not AI bullshit please)

3. Include 5-8 examples of your best email work (the more the better)

Serious candidates will complete a test project before hiring:
- We provide: Brand guidelines + product images + brief
- You design: 1 complete email
- Timeline: 24 hours

We respond to all applications within 48 hours.

REAL TALK:

I want someone who actually cares about getting better at this. Not just clocking in.

If you're that person, I'll invest in you. Train you properly. Help you build a portfolio that opens doors. The goal is we both grow from this.
