JOB OVERVIEW

TWT Unleashed is the social and documentary arm of The Washington Times.

We produce serious, non?hysterical, conservative?leaning news content across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X – plus high?end documentaries and live shows.

We’re looking for a Senior Video Editor who can own the edit, not just take orders.

What You’ll Own
- Turn raw news, interviews, and live shows into high?retention short?form clips (Reels, TikTok, Shorts, FB Reels).
- Build story arcs from long?form interviews / commentary into multiple clips that keep people watching to the end.
- Add captions, titles, sound design, motion, and B?roll that fit a serious, credible news brand.
- Help shape formats and visual language for the show (what “our look” is on each platform).
- Give clear direction to junior editors or motion designers when needed.
- Work directly with producers to improve turnaround time, formats, and performance over time.

This is a senior seat: you’re expected to make decisions, bring ideas, and build frameworks and templates – not wait for step?by?step instructions.

Schedule & Communication (Non?Negotiable)
- Full?time, 6 days per week, aligned to U.S. news cycles.
- Fixed daily working window with overlap to U.S. daytime.

During working hours you:
- Reply within 15–30 minutes on Slack
- Proactively update: “Draft uploaded,” “Need clarification on X,” “ETA 2 hours,” etc.
- Flag issues early so producers are never surprised by delays.
***If you want strict Monday–Friday, 9–5 with no urgency and no growth, this is not the role.***

Requirements
- 3–5+ years professional editing experience, including short?form for social (TikTok, Reels, Shorts).
- Strong reel of news / commentary / documentary?style work (not just gaming or ---------- edits).
- Deep sense of storytelling, pacing, and hook selection for political / current?events content.
- Expert in Premiere Pro and After Effects

Comfortable with:
- Talking?head commentary
- Live show / panel clips
- Fast?moving news and sensitive topics
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Reliable computer and fast, stable internet (large file transfers daily).

What Success Looks Like
You consistently:
- Deliver edits on or before deadline, even with breaking stories.
- Need 1–2 revision rounds max because you understand the brand and tone.
- Increase retention and watch time on key platforms.
- Communicate early if a deadline is at risk and propose solutions.
- Are trusted to set the bar for other editors.
