Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer
Work Type: Full-Time, Remote | Compensation: Competitive (Salary + Performance Bonuses)
About This Opportunity
We're building an AI-powered operating system for educational platforms—one that automates complex workflows, optimizes operations, and creates scalable infrastructure that will eventually serve multiple institutions across the education sector.
You won't be maintaining websites or doing routine tasks. You'll be architecting intelligent systems from the ground up: designing agentic AI workflows, integrating multi-system data pipelines, and building the technical backbone of a platform designed to scale.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who understands how to build, deploy, and optimize AI agents in production environments. We're looking for a reliable individual contributor who thinks systemically, can anticipate bottlenecks, and takes ownership of the entire technical stack.
What You'll Actually Be Doing:
Agentic AI System Design & Development
- Design and build production-grade agentic AI systems that automate complex, multi-step workflows
- Architect AI agents that can reason, make decisions, and handle edge cases autonomously
- Implement sophisticated prompt engineering and agent orchestration strategies
- Integrate AI agents with existing business systems and databases
- Monitor, optimize, and improve agent performance in production
Full-Stack Infrastructure & Integration
- Build and maintain the technical backbone connecting multiple systems (databases, APIs, third-party tools, AI platforms)
- Design data pipelines that ensure clean, consistent information flow between systems
- Architect scalable solutions that will eventually work across multiple institutions
- Create dashboards and monitoring systems for visibility into what's working and what needs improvement
- Document systems thoroughly so they remain maintainable and improvable long-term
Front-End & User Experience (Secondary)
- Maintain and modernize web interfaces for the platform
- Ensure responsive design and excellent performance across devices
- Work with both custom-built and third-party embedded systems
What We're Looking For
- Required Experience & Technical Skills
- 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience (non-negotiable)
- Deep, production-level experience building and deploying agentic AI systems (not just using ChatGPT)
- Strong expertise in:
Backend architecture and system design
Database management and optimization
API design and integration
Full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript (or equivalent modern stack)
HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks
- Proven ability to architect solutions that scale across multiple contexts/clients
- Experience working with AI platforms (Claude API, OpenAI API, or similar at the integration level)
- Understanding of how AI agents work: reasoning, planning, tool use, and failure modes
Required Work Style & Values
- Individual contributor only — you personally own and complete all work
- Reliable, honest, and takes genuine pride in technical excellence
- Can work independently with daily collaboration and communication
- Full-time commitment (no other clients or divided attention)
- Thinks systemically about problems — can see how individual features connect to larger business outcomes
- Detail-oriented with a sense of urgency, but never at the expense of code quality
- Comfortable learning and adapting to our specific stack and workflow
Nice-to-Have
- Experience building products or platforms (not just client work)
- Background in education technology
- Experience with workflow automation platforms
- DevOps or infrastructure experience
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Understands the bigger picture. You don't just build features; you think about how systems will scale and evolve.
- Actually knows AI. You've built with AI at the API level, debugged agent failures, and optimized prompt strategies. You're not learning this on the job.
- Values reliability. You show up, you communicate clearly, you deliver what you commit to, and you care about the quality of what you ship.
- Thinks long-term. You're interested in building something substantial, not just collecting paychecks from contract work.
What We're Building:
Phase 1: Build and optimize AI automation systems for our internal operations, creating scalable processes and infrastructure.
Phase 2: Adapt and offer this platform to other educational institutions who need the same automation and efficiency gains.
Phase 3: Evolve into a broader ecosystem that reshapes how educational platforms operate at scale.
You'll be building the technical foundation that makes all three phases possible. This isn't contract work—it's building infrastructure that matters.
How We Work Together:
- We're a fully remote team and we believe in transparency and clear accountability on both sides. Here's what that looks like in practice:
~ We use Hubstaff to track hours and maintain visibility into work. You'll always know exactly what we see — it keeps billing, communication, and expectations clean for everyone.
~ Webcam screenshots are part of our standard remote work setup. If you're confident in your work and value clear accountability, this won't be an issue.
~ Daily communication is expected — not micromanagement, but genuine collaboration. We want to know what you're building, what's blocking you, and what you're thinking.
~ You own your work. We're not hovering over your shoulder — we're building something together, and we trust the people we hire to show up and deliver.
This setup protects both of us. You get clarity on expectations, and we get confidence in our team. If you've done great work professionally and value straightforward working relationships, you'll feel right at home here.
Character & Work Ethic:
Technical skills can be taught. Character can't. Here's who we're looking for:
- Self-directed — you don't need hand-holding. You figure things out independently and take initiative without being asked.
- Communicative — you proactively update, flag problems early, and never go quiet. We should always know where things stand.
- Intellectually curious — you're genuinely excited about AI, not just using it as a buzzword. You follow the space, experiment on your own, and bring ideas to the table.
- Calm under pressure — systems break, deadlines get tight, things go wrong. You troubleshoot methodically rather than panic, and you keep moving forward.
- Collaborative but confident — you can push back respectfully when you see a better technical approach. We want a partner who thinks, not just someone who executes orders.
- High ownership mentality — you treat the business like it's your own. If something is late, that bothers you personally. - Deadlines aren't suggestions — they're commitments.
- Execution-focused — you think in outcomes, not effort. What matters is whether it shipped, whether it works, and whether it moves the business forward.
If this describes how you naturally operate, you'll thrive here. If you need constant direction or struggle with accountability, this role isn't the right fit.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive full-time salary based on experience and demonstrated expertise
- Performance bonuses for shipping high-quality work and hitting milestones
- Long-term partnership — we invest in the right people and grow together
- Remote work with flexibility on location
- Direct collaboration with leadership on technical strategy and decisions

What We Value
We're not looking for resume keywords. We're looking for someone whose technical judgment we trust, who thinks carefully about how systems fit together, and who genuinely cares about building something that works well.
If you've spent years building robust systems, understand AI at a deep level, and want to work with a team that values quality over speed, we'd love to hear from you.
