We run a growing YouTube channel focused on pets (dogs, cats, horses, and other animals). We produce two types of videos:
• educational pet behavior videos
• funny pet compilation videos
We are looking for a video editor who can add light commentary narration to our compilation videos to give them a storytelling feel. This is not heavy editing work. The videos are already assembled. Your job is to add short narration segments that frame the clips with humor or observation.
Think of it like a funny nature documentary style voiceover.
Example style:
Instead of describing what happens in the clip:
Not “This dog steals food.”
We want commentary like:
More like: “This dog has been studying the kitchen counter for weeks, waiting for his time.”
The goal is to add personality and commentary that makes the video feel creator-driven rather than just a compilation of clips.
Responsibilities
• Add short narration lines throughout compilation videos
• Insert narration audio at appropriate
• Lower background music slightly under narration
• Maintain natural pacing and timing
• Export final YouTube-ready video
Most videos are 9+ minutes long.
Narration will typically total about 120 seconds per video.
Tools
Editors may use:
• Adobe Premiere
• Final Cut
• CapCut
• DaVinci Resolve
• or similar
AI voice tools will be used, but voice must sound very natural and not robotic.
What We’re Looking For
Someone who:
• has good editing timing
• understands humor and pacing
• can write short commentary lines
• speaks fluent English
• can follow simple instructions
Experience with YouTube content editing is a plus.
Experience with pet or animal videos is also a plus.
Compensation
We will start with a paid test project.
If the test goes well, this can turn into ongoing work editing multiple videos per week.
Our biggest issue is finding people who will actually follow the instructions. Hopefully, you will be able to do that.
This is a big warning, right in the middle of the job description. I hope that you see it and heed it.
Please follow the instructions if you are seriously interested. I don't like discarding good applicants because they can't follow simple directions, but since following instructions is a part of the job... if you can't follow directions in the job application process, that is a good indicator.
TO APPLY:
Please include:
1. Links to YouTube videos you have edited
2. A short note about your editing experience
3. Your approximate turnaround time to create and add approximately 60 to 90 seconds of commentary to a 9 to 10 minute compilation video.
3. Write a humorous commentary line for a dog sneaking the entire pizza box with half the pizza left in it...out the back door and into his dog house in the backyard when no one is watching.
4. The word “Goose” in your application so we know you read the entire job description.
I'm looking forward to seeing your application materials.
Thanks!
