We’re looking for a high-skill YouTube thumbnail designer who can consistently create scroll-stopping, high-CTR thumbnails using Adobe Photoshop. You should understand visual hierarchy, emotion, contrast, and mobile-first design, and be able to iterate fast based on feedback and performance data.
This is for ongoing work. Quality and reliability matter more than speed, but you must be able to execute with pace once direction is clear.
Responsibilities
Design YouTube thumbnails that are optimized for CTR and mobile viewing
Create multiple concepts/variations per video (typically 2–6)
Do strong photo compositing (cutouts, lighting, shadows, integration)
Handle retouching (skin, objects, cleanup) and enhance clarity
Build strong typography only when needed (clean, minimal, readable)
Deliver layered PSD files with organized groups and editable text
Iterate quickly based on:
Creative direction
A/B testing results
CTR / audience signals
Required Skills
Expert-level Adobe Photoshop
Strong understanding of:
Composition and visual hierarchy
Lighting, color, contrast, and depth
Facial expression emphasis and “emotion reads”
Clean cutouts (hair included when needed)
Mobile-first readability (small size clarity)
Able to follow a consistent brand style while still producing fresh concepts
Strong attention to detail and clean file organization
Nice to Have
YouTube thumbnail experience with proven results (CTR lift, wins, etc.)
Familiarity with MrBeast-style pacing, kids thumbnails, or education packaging (depending on niche)
Ability to generate quick mockups from rough references
Basic understanding of A/B testing and why thumbnails win/lose
