JOB OVERVIEW

Makena is a Hawaii-based jewelry brand inspired by sun-warmed skin, salt air, effortless beauty, and everyday elegance. Our pieces are designed to be worn in the ocean, layered daily, and loved for years, not just a season.

We are looking for someone with a fashion background who deeply understands brand identity and can assist in designing collections that stay fully aligned with Makena’s aesthetic.

The Right Person for This Role

You understand how to:

Stay consistent with an established aesthetic

Build cohesive collections that feel intentional

Avoid chasing trends that don’t fit the brand

Refine ideas until they feel effortless, not over-designed

Makena is feminine but not fussy.
Elevated but not flashy.
On-trend but never trendy.
Coastal but not literal.

We are looking for someone who instinctively understands that balance.

How You’ll Work

We regularly curate and provide inspiration images, references, and directional concepts.

Your role will be to:

Use our curated inspiration as a starting point

Thoughtfully tweak, refine, and reinterpret designs

Adjust proportion, scale, finishes, and details

Build cohesive, production-ready collections from those references

This is not copy-and-paste design.
It’s about elevating inspiration into original, brand-aligned pieces that feel distinctly Makena.

Responsibilities

Design full jewelry collections aligned with Makena’s brand DNA

Create seasonal mood boards rooted in our aesthetic

Develop balanced assortments (statement + layering + core essentials)

Review samples to ensure they match both design intent and brand standards

Help evolve the brand while staying true to its core identity

Contribute to naming, collection themes, and storytelling

Qualifications

Strong portfolio showing any previous fashion work

We mainly collaborate in Figma.

Strong sense of proportion, scale, and layering
