JOB OVERVIEW

Construction Estimator / Quantity Takeoff Specialist (Canadian & US Projects) – Full Time Remote
Overview

We are a growing Canadian construction and building envelope company seeking a highly skilled Construction Estimator to join our team full-time. Mainly doing smaller projects with no plans to read, but photos and measurements.

This is a long-term, stable position for someone who is experienced in:

• Quantity takeoffs
• Scope writing
• Quote preparation
• Construction pricing

You MUST be familiar with Canadian and/or US construction methods, materials, and pricing structures.

This is not a beginner role. We are looking for someone who understands construction and can think independently.

Our projects include:

• Decks and waterproofing (vinyl membrane)
• Building envelope repairs
• Exterior renovations
• General carpentry
• Commercial and residential work

Your Responsibilities

You will work directly with ownership and project management to:

Estimating

• Perform material quantity takeoffs from plans and drawings
• Read architectural, structural, and shop drawings
• Analyze project specifications
• Identify missing scope items

Scope Writing

• Write clear, detailed scopes of work
• Break projects into logical phases
• Ensure nothing is missed

Quote Preparation

• Prepare professional quotes for clients
• Compile labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Apply markups and pricing strategies

Cost Research

• Research material costs
• Research labour costs
• Help maintain pricing databases

Support Project Planning

• Assist with budgeting
• Help identify cost risks
• Help improve estimating systems

Required Experience

You MUST have experience in:

• Construction estimating
• Quantity takeoffs
• Reading construction drawings
• Construction scope writing

AND be familiar with:

• Canadian or US construction methods
• Imperial measurements (feet, inches)
• North American building materials

Required Skills

You must be:

• Extremely detail-oriented
• Reliable
• Honest
• Efficient
• Able to work independently
• Able to meet deadlines

Strong English is required.

Work Schedule

Full Time
Monday to Friday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pacific Time (Vancouver, Canada)

Compensation

Based on experience.
