The ideal candidate has exposure to U.S. federal tax matters and is comfortable working within structured systems, meeting deadlines, and supporting IRS administrative proceedings under supervision.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
• Active bar license in at least one U.S. state or U.S. territory
• In good standing with all applicable bar authorities
• Must have or be eligible to obtain an IRS CAF (Centralized Authorization File) number
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Minimum 2 years of legal experience
• Exposure to U.S. federal tax law (controversy, compliance, or planning)
• Strong legal research and drafting skills
• Excellent written English
• Reliable high-speed internet and professional remote work setup
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with IRS administrative procedures
• Familiarity with IRS transcripts and collections processes
• Drafting experience including audit responses, protest letters, appeals submissions, penalty abatement requests, and Offer in Compromise documentation
• LLM in Taxation (preferred but not required)
• Experience using legal case management systems
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Legal research and preparation of memoranda
• Drafting IRS correspondence and administrative submissions
• Reviewing tax returns, financial records, and supporting documentation
• Assisting in audit defense and appeals preparation
• Supporting tax planning research and analysis
• Maintaining organized case documentation
• Collaborating with supervising attorneys to meet internal production timelines
