About the Role
We are a physician-owned emergency medicine group operating a hospital-based emergency department. We are seeking a highly analytical Mathematician / Data Analyst to evaluate reimbursement performance across insurance carriers, case types, and dispute pathways.
This role focuses on analysis and decision support, not clerical billing work. Your findings will directly influence whether we pursue or avoid costly reimbursement dispute processes.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze paid vs unpaid claims by insurance carrier
Identify trends in:
Claim denials and underpayments
Case types most likely to be denied
Payers with poor reimbursement performance
Analyze Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) outcomes:
Win rates by payer
Recovered revenue vs IDR costs
ROI thresholds for when IDR is financially justified
Create clear summaries, tables, and dashboards for physicians and leadership
Support additional data analysis projects related to revenue optimization
Required Qualifications
Strong background in mathematics, statistics, economics, or data analysis
Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
Ability to analyze large datasets and explain insights clearly
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
High attention to accuracy and detail
Preferred (Not Required)
Healthcare billing, insurance, or claims data experience
Experience analyzing arbitration, dispute resolution, or legal outcomes
Familiarity with ROI modeling or financial decision frameworks
