Breadcounter is a modern financial agency built for internet businesses. We help founders save money, scale fast, and eventually exit their companies.
We run like an agency. Clarity, speed, and systems matter.
We’re hiring an account manager who owns the client experience end-to-end and acts as the bridge between clients, accounting, and tax strategy. You are the day-to-day owner of client relationships after a deal is closed.
You are not doing bookkeeping or tax prep.
You are financially literate enough to understand and explain numbers, anticipate questions, and route issues correctly.
This role is ideal for someone who understands how accounting works, even if they are not an accountant.
What You’ll Own:
- Primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients
- Client onboarding and clean handoffs from sales
- Ongoing communication, expectations, and follow-ups
- Explaining financial reports at a high level (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow, etc)
- Answering basic accounting questions and escalating complex ones
- Routing tax strategy questions to the EA/CPA
- Enforcing scope and SLAs
- Tracking deliverables, deadlines, and client requests
- Keeping CRM and client records clean
- Flagging risks, opportunities, and upgrade signals
You’ll do well here if you:
- Have experience in an agency, consultancy, or services business
- Have managed and grown a portfolio of clients
- Understand financial statements and basic accounting principles
- Can confidently explain numbers without “winging it”
- Are organized, calm, and decisive
- Take ownership and communicate clearly
- Enjoy working with founders and operators
This role is not a fit if you:
- Avoid client-facing responsibility
- Prefer loose structure
- Need step-by-step direction
Requirements:
- Strong written and spoken English
- Financial literacy (P&L, balance sheet, basic accounting concepts)
- Client success, account management, or ops experience
- Comfort working with US-based clients
Agency, SaaS, or accounting-adjacent background preferred.
To apply, please submit a Loom video up to 5 minutes covering the following:
- Your name, where you are based, and your current or most recent role
- Why Breadcounter stood out to you and why this Client Operations Lead role makes sense for you
- Your experience managing a portfolio of clients, including the types of clients, how many you managed at once, and your role as the main point of contact
- A brief explanation of the difference between revenue, profit, and cash flow as if you were explaining it to a non-financial founder
- An example of a time a client was unhappy or confused and how you handled the situation
Applications without a Loom video will not be considered.
