JOB OVERVIEW

ABOUT THE PUBLICATION

Premium fintech newsletter—think Morning Brew's style and sleekness with Bloomberg Businessweek's sophistication. Financial analysis delivered with personality and perspective for a professional audience: industry professionals, institutional investors, and intelligent policymakers who need smart analysis behind financial technology's developments, dynamics, and direction.

We're not:

Crypto ---------- coin people
Content without editorial merit
Making money from the editorial"

We are:

Premium like a Bloomberg/WSJ/ NYT business section opinions columnist - with Personality / edge.
with Personality / edge; Character-forward speaking on complex topics in finance, technology, policy
Citation-heavy—everything needs fact-checking and primary sources
Building editorial credibility, not hype

THE ROLE

Transform our editorial writers' long-form paper into a, short-form newsletter - story, sections that maintains a strong editorial voice while creating sharp, sleek, structure

NOT ghostwriting or rewriting but transforming the long piece into a short piece— this means reading, structuring, and distilling the core essence of a story into the shortest form, while maintaining 90%+ vision and voice fidelity.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

Editorialize long-form educational or opinion columns into short-form newsletter

90%+ editorial voice fidelity—you're deducting all the story's essence, not generating anything new
Extract specific story arc and strategically section them
Use storytelling flow: short sentences, motivation-reaction units
Match the founder's character voice and vocabulary
Never add new content—only restructure what's there

Editorial storytelling framework

Summary (1-2 sentences) & Introduction
Story topic: start/background context ? conclusion
Storyboard outline: each story's summary, then section headers and sections per newsletter format

2. CONCEPTUALIZATION / VISUALIZATION

Based on the story, conceptualize visual elements

Build using recurring story sections (Winners/Losers, etc)
Select parts of the story to turn into short-form summary formats: lists, charts, data visualizations
Structure story hierarchy, simplifies into straightforward writing - complex topics on finance, technology, and policy

3. RESEARCH & FACT-CHECKING

Citation-heavy verification

Use Claude, Perplexity, Grok, and other AI tools for research, fact-checking, citations
Verify ALL numbers, statistics, citations, and factual claims
Request supporting data for anything that can't be verified
Maintain credible sources and links—keep a running credibility list

4. PRODUCTION & QA

Bi-weekly newsletter build and publish

Build newsletters in Beehiiv using existing template
Preview and test email (confirm it works on mobile, computer)
QA: click into all links, troubleshoot any formatting issues
Develop subject lines: 3-5 options per issue
Develop SEO elements: 3-5 options each for SEO Title, Description (FB, X, LinkedIn)

SKILLS
? Beehiiv platform experience - You've published newsletters, understand email limitations
? Editorial judgment - You understand the difference between editorializing and rewriting. You can distill 5,000 words into 2,000 without losing the argument
? Fact-checking rigor - You don't let anything slide. Every claim needs a source. Bloomberg/WSJ standards matter to you
? AI tool proficiency - Comfortable with Claude, Perplexity, Grok for research, verification, and citation tracking
? Financial literacy - You understand finance, technology policy, regulatory frameworks without hand-holding
? Visual thinking - You see complex data and immediately think "this needs a chart"

STRONG PREFERENCE FOR:
? Journalism or editorial background (Bloomberg, WSJ, Financial Times editorial standards)
? Fintech industry knowledge (you read industry publications, understand the space)
? Experience with opinion/analysis newsletters (not promotional content)
? Primary source research skills
? Design tools proficiency (Canva, basic graphic design)
