JOB OVERVIEW

I’m looking for a detail-oriented podcast editor to support my bi-weekly interview podcast, where I speak with business founders about their brand’s marketing strategy. Episodes are typically 30–45 minutes and are edited in Descript.

Initially, this role will focus primarily on editing podcast episodes, with the opportunity to grow into a more comprehensive podcast production role (creating social clips, distributing episodes, and writing show notes) over time.

Currently, I have about six episodes recorded and need editing. Once those are edited, editing help will be needed on an as-needed basis (at least a few hours each month).

Core Responsibilities (Immediate Needs):
1. Edit podcast episodes in Descript for clarity and flow, including:
-Removing filler words and long pauses
-Editing out retakes and selecting the strongest take when multiple versions exist
-Cleaning up overlapping dialogue by removing unnecessary or distracting sections

2. Adjust audio levels and sound quality as needed to ensure a clear, professional listening experience

Growth Opportunities (Future Scope):
As the podcast grows, this role may expand to include:
1. Identifying 3–5 compelling soundbites per episode for social media
2. Uploading final episodes to Spotify for Creators
3. Writing podcast episode descriptions/show notes using an existing SOP, including:
-A clear episode summary
-A timeline of key discussion points
-Guest bios

Skill Requirements:
-Hands-on experience editing podcasts
-Proficiency with Descript
-Strong attention to detail and storytelling flow (knowing what to cut and keep)
-Comfortable following established processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience writing podcast show notes (timelines, guests' biographies, descriptions)
-Familiarity with podcast publishing workflows and platforms
