Fullstack Software Engineer (AI-Enabled Platforms)
Python (Django) · React / React Native · Agentic AI
Remote | Early-Stage EdTech Startup
About Wizearly
Wizearly is an AI-powered early warning and intervention platform designed to predict and prevent chronic absenteeism in K–12 education. We integrate multi-source student data, advanced analytics, and AI-driven workflows to help schools intervene earlier, act more effectively, and improve student outcomes at scale.
We are at a critical build stage: refining our core platform, expanding our mobile experience, and embedding agentic AI into real production workflows used by educators and families.
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior, product-minded Fullstack Software Engineer who can design, build, and ship production-grade features across the Wizearly platform. This role blends deep fullstack execution with AI-assisted development and close collaboration with the founder and core team.
You will own features end to end, from architecture and implementation to deployment and iteration, while helping shape how agentic AI is embedded into real-world education workflows.
This is not a prototype-only role. You will be building systems intended for real users, real districts, and real impact, so you MUST have the relevant experience.
Key Responsibilities
Core Platform Development
Design, build, test, and maintain scalable backend services using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
Architect clean, secure, and maintainable APIs that support web, mobile, and AI-driven workflows.
Develop responsive and accessible front-end interfaces using React.
Build and maintain cross-platform mobile features using React Native.
AI and Agentic Workflows
Contribute to the development of agentic AI features, including workflow automation, triage logic, and intelligent recommendations.
Integrate LLM-powered services where appropriate, balancing reliability, explainability, and performance.
Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT to accelerate delivery without sacrificing quality.
Product and Architecture Collaboration
Work directly with the founder and core team on product decisions, system architecture, and technical tradeoffs.
Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions, often with incomplete or evolving specifications.
Participate in architectural planning and technical roadmap discussions.
Engineering Excellence
Write clean, reusable, well-documented code following best practices.
Implement and maintain testing strategies using tools such as pytest, Jest, and React Testing Library.
Conduct code reviews and contribute to shared engineering standards.
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize performance across the stack.
Required Qualifications
5–8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong fullstack ownership.
Strong proficiency in Python and experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
Solid experience with React including hooks, state management, and modern component patterns.
Hands-on experience with React Native in a production environment.
Strong fundamentals in JavaScript / TypeScript.
Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and ORMs.
Proven ability to design and ship real systems, not just proofs of concept.
Comfortable owning features end to end, from design through deployment.
Clear communicator, self-directed, and highly product-oriented.
Experience working in startup or early-stage environments.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience building or integrating AI/LLM-powered products or agentic systems.
Familiarity with data pipelines, analytics platforms, or multi-source data integration.
Experience in education technology, health tech, or other regulated domains.
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong, visible GitHub portfolio.
What Success Looks Like
You ship meaningful features quickly and responsibly.
You improve system reliability, clarity, and scalability as the platform grows.
You help translate AI potential into practical, usable workflows for real users.
You act as a technical thought partner, not just an implementer.
