JOB OVERVIEW

Social Media Video Editor for Content Agency Ascend Studiios:

Position Overview:
We are looking for a part-time Social Media Video Editor to support our content agency by editing primarily short-form videos (occasionally long-form) for our clients social media accounts.

Your job is simple:
Turn raw footage into scroll-stopping, on brand and engaging content that performs on social media.

This role is execution focused, you will not manage any clients or projects. All we will ask you to do is edit, refine and deliver high quality videos on deadline

1. Core Responsibilities (Daily/Ongoing)

Video Editing:
- Edit short-form videos for social media (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube Shorts etc.)
- Edit long-form content **when needed** (YouTube, Podcasts etc.)
- Add:
- Dynamic captions
- Transitions (Zooms, jump cuts etc.) when appropriate
- motion graphics when appropriate
- B-roll (raw b-roll footage will be provided)
- Music and sound design
- Follow brand guidelines for:
- Fonts
- Colors
- Caption style
- Pacing and tone

Content Formatting:
- Export videos in correct specs for each platform (aspect ratio, file size, resolution)
- Ensure content is optimized for retention (strong hooks, pacing, clean cuts)
- Uploaded to the proper folder within Google Drive

Revisions & Feedback:
- Implement revision notes accurately and quickly
- Maintain consistency across all edits for a given client

2. Weekly Responsibilities

Editing Output:
- Deliver assigned videos on or before deadlines (we're looking for 7-10 day editing turnaround)
- Maintain consistent quality across all client content

Communication:
- Communicate clearly in Slack regarding:
- Task completion
- Delays
- Questions about creative direction
- Provide weekly status updates (Every Monday and Friday) as well as when requested

3. Tools & Systems

Editing Tools:
- Premiere Pro is preferred as this is the tool we currently use and would be easy to share project files if needed
- Familiarity with Adobe Audition (or other audio editors), After Effects and CapCut is a plus!

Agency Tools:
- Slack
- Used for communication
- Notion
- Task tracking and project management
- Google Drive
- For delivering raw footage/assets to you and giving us final delivery of the edited videos

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)

- On-time delivery: 95% of edits are delivered by deadline
- Revision Rate: Fewer than 20% of videos require major revisions
- Quality Consistency: Edits match brand style without repeated reminders
- Speed: Short-form edits completed efficiently without sacrificing quality
