Job Summary
We’re hiring a Tax Planning & Compliance Advisor who thinks beyond the return. This role is ideal for someone who understands the tax code as a tool, not just a task, and can help clients implement smart strategies that reduce tax liability, increase savings, and align with long-term business goals.

You’ll meet with small business owners throughout the year to uncover planning opportunities, optimize entity structure, and support them in staying proactive, not reactive. This is not just about compliance, it’s about confidence, clarity, and creating real value.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct tax strategy sessions for small business clients (S-Corps, LLCs, etc.).
Develop personalized tax plans based on entity type, income structure, state considerations, and client goals.
Review prior-year returns and financials to identify missed opportunities and future strategies.
Guide clients on estimated payments, safe harbor rules, and planning for tax season in advance.
Advise on deductions, fringe benefits, retirement contributions, and business write-offs.
Communicate clearly with clients about their tax position and strategy throughout the year, not just during filing season.
Collaborate with internal bookkeepers and staff accountants to ensure accurate financials for tax planning.
Track changes in IRS regulations, state tax law, and industry-specific planning tools.
Assist with client notices and tax-related correspondence as needed (optional).
Document planning recommendations and maintain internal planning tools/templates.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Tax Planning & Compliance Advisor or in a similar role, ideally within a consulting or small business-focused environment.
2+ years of experience preparing and/or reviewing small business tax returns.
Strong working knowledge of federal and state tax codes, particularly for service-based businesses.
Comfortable providing proactive tax advice and supporting clients in understanding their numbers.
Experience with QuickBooks Online and Tax Planner Pro.

Note: CPA or EA certification is not required, but experience must demonstrate a high level of tax knowledge and strategic thinking.
