We’re on the lookout for an Architect & Estimating Virtual Assistant who’s ready to bring talent, energy, and creativity to our growing team!
This is a joint position with OWSI Flooring & Design and Gemstone Development, two leading Utah-based companies that design and build some of the most beautiful custom homes in the state. From ground-up builds to detailed remodels, we’re looking for someone who can help us turn ideas into full, professional house plans and accurate estimates that our builders can count on.
If you’re passionate about architecture, rendering, and design – and you love collaborating with a driven, positive team – this is your chance to be part of something amazing.
Your Key Responsibilities:
~ Create full residential floor plans, elevations, and layouts using AutoCAD and other professional programs.
~ Develop high-quality, realistic 3D renders that bring spaces to life.
~ Use MeasureSquare (provided by us) to generate takeoffs and integrate data into our estimating system.
~ Confidently communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather bids, confirm details, and schedule work.
~ Work directly with the owner and design team on cabinetry, bathroom, and interior layouts.
~ Prepare detailed spec sheets, product lists, and design documentation for projects.
~ Support both companies with a wide range of design, estimating, and coordination tasks as needed for our overall success.
Skills & Qualifications:
~ Strong background in architectural drafting, residential design, and plan creation.
~ Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Lumion, V-Ray, Enscape, or similar rendering software.
~ Must have and supply your own design and rendering programs.
~ Experience using MeasureSquare for takeoffs and estimating (we provide the license).
~ Familiar with USA and Utah building code standards and residential plan requirements.
~ Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
~ Professional confidence when communicating with suppliers, builders, and subcontractors.
~ High attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
~ Must have a computer capable of rendering (GPU-ready setup preferred).
~ Familiar with Dropbox, Google Drive, and task management tools like ClickUp or Notion.
~ Must be solution-oriented — we value people who take initiative and figure things out.
Bonus Skills (Preferred but Not Required):
~ Background in interior design or finish selection.
~ Experience with cabinet layouts, millwork drawings, or custom room detailing.
~ Previous estimating experience for finish materials (tile, flooring, lighting, cabinetry, etc.).
~ Experience working with US-based builders or construction companies.
Schedule and Work Requirements:
~ Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Mountain Standard Time (Utah Time)
~ Must work live on screen with the owner and team during those hours.
~ Must be available for occasional urgent needs outside of schedule.
~ High productivity and strong results will lead to more hours, growth, and long-term opportunities.
~ Use of Hubstaff for Time Tracking is a must
