We are a rapidly growing real estate asset management company seeking an experienced, detail-driven Virtual Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who understands the complexities of real estate accounting, thrives in a structured and process-oriented environment, and can independently manage financial records with precision. Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and manage financial records within QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all accounts
- Structure and refine account categories, subcategories, and classes—including building out custom classifications as needed
- Perform comprehensive bank and credit card reconciliations by comparing transactions across QuickBooks, bank statements, and vendor records
- Handle data entry for journal entries, payroll files, W9s, invoices, receipts, and all financial documentation
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports such as Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and property/entity-specific summaries
- Track, manage, and report income and expenses across multiple properties or real estate business units
- Create, post, and reconcile payments, invoices, bills, and vendor transactions
- Maintain a clean and accurate Chart of Accounts with ongoing updates to support operational needs
- Learn and utilize additional financial or reporting tools as the company expands
- Ensure all accounts remain up to date, including investor distributions, mortgages, insurance, utilities, vendors, and credit card payments
- Manage inventory, assets, and property-related financial records
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper—preferably in real estate, asset management, or property management
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (required) and solid grounding in accounting principles
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency when handling financial data
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and stay organized with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Familiarity with real estate accounting best practices, industry standards, and compliance requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred but not required)
- Bookkeeping or accounting certifications (e.g., QuickBooks ProAdvisor) are a strong plus
