3D Artist (3ds Max Specialist) – Full-Time | Remote | AU$1,200/month

Salary: AUD $1,200
Location: Philippines
Type: Full-time (Mon – Fri, Western Australian business hours, UTC +8)
Reporting to: Head of 3D Design
Collaborates with: Head of 3D Design, 3D Artists, Project Managers, Animation & Real-Time Leads

Role Overview

3D Walkabout is seeking a talented 3D Artist specialising in 3ds Max to join our visualisation team. You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality static architectural renders for the property industry — including residential interiors and exteriors, commercial projects, 3D floor plans, street views, bird’s-eye renders, and photo-montage images for DA submissions.

This is a production-focused role for someone with a keen eye for detail, lighting, composition, and photorealism. You’ll work collaboratively with our Australian team to deliver premium CGI content for architects, developers, and builders across Australia.

Tools & Software

Essential

- 3ds Max (primary modelling and rendering tool)
- V-Ray or Corona Renderer (for photo-real visualisation)
- Photoshop (for post-production and compositing)

Preferred

- SketchUp (for base modelling and import workflows)
- Substance Painter or Quixel Mixer (for texture creation)
- After Effects or DaVinci Resolve (for basic post processing)
- Experience with photo-montage composition and camera matching
- Shared network drives / NAS systems for team production
- Bonus: Experience with D5 Render or Unreal Engine for real-time presentation

What You’ll Be Doing

- Architectural Visualisation & Rendering
- Produce photo-realistic renders for residential and commercial projects — including interior design shots, exterior facades, and development site renders.
- Create 3D floor plans, bird’s-eye renders, and street view visuals that communicate design intent clearly and beautifully.
- Develop photo-montage renders for DA submissions, integrating CGI with real photography.
- Maintain a consistent level of lighting, colour grading, and realism across all outputs.

3D Modelling & Scene Setup

- Build clean, efficient 3D models of architectural spaces, landscapes, and furnishings with accurate scale and detail.
- Optimise geometry, materials, and scene hierarchy for smooth rendering performance.
- Follow naming conventions and organised scene structures for team collaboration.

Texturing & Lighting

- Create and apply realistic materials and PBR textures for both interior and exterior assets.
- Develop lighting setups that enhance architectural form, mood, and photographic composition.
- Refine look development with the Head of 3D Design to meet project style and quality benchmarks.

Team Workflow & Production

- Work closely with project managers and other 3D artists to meet deadlines and maintain high quality standards.
- Participate in internal reviews and adjust renders based on feedback and client revisions.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of studio workflow documents and rendering standards.

Growth & Creative Development

- Keep up to date with new techniques in 3ds Max, V-Ray, and Corona.
- Explore creative approaches to composition, lighting, and photographic storytelling.
- Develop skills in real-time visualisation tools over time to support a diverse project pipeline.

About You

- Minimum 4 years’ experience in 3D visualisation or architectural rendering.
- Expert in 3ds Max with a deep understanding of V-Ray or Corona Renderer.
- Strong knowledge of lighting, composition, materials, and camera setup.
- Experience producing residential and commercial renders from plans or models.
- Skilled in Photoshop for post-production and colour grading.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
- Bonus: Experience with DA photomontages or CGI integration into real photos.

What You’ll Get

- Opportunity to work under the guidance of an experienced Head of 3D Design.
- Consistent pipeline of architectural visualisation projects across Australia.
- Creative autonomy and exposure to diverse property types and clients.
- A chance to grow within one of Australia’s leading immersive tech studios.

About Us

3D Walkabout is an Australian 3D visualisation and XR studio producing high-end 3D renders, animations, and interactive experiences for property, infrastructure, education, and industry. We specialise in bringing architectural designs to life through realistic, impactful imagery and immersive storytelling.
