Experienced Fire Alarm / Security Systems Designer (Remote)
Location: Remote
Compensation: $6–$10/hour (based on experience)
We are a fire & security contracting and engineering company seeking for a skilled Fire Alarm / Security Systems Designer to join our team on a freelance, part-time, or full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in fire alarm systems, security systems, CCTV, and access control. Projects will include system design, drafting, and documentation for submittals and installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design fire alarm, security, CCTV, and access control systems in compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, and local codes.
- Produce professional drawings and submittal packages using AutoDesk AutoCAD.
- Coordinate system layouts, device locations, riser diagrams, and wiring details.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and AHJs as needed.
- Revise and update designs based on feedback or code requirements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience designing fire alarm and/or low voltage security systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required).
- Familiarity with NFPA 72 and other relevant fire/life safety codes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred (not required):
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems or equivalent experience.
- Experience preparing full submittal packages for AHJ approval.
- Knowledge of manufacturer-specific equipment (e.g., Fire Lite, DMP, Kidde, Silent Knight, Honeywell, etc.).
