About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Tax Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring timely and accurate payroll tax compliance across multiple states and jurisdictions. You will regularly interface with the IRS, state Departments of Revenue (DORs), and Departments of Labor (DOLs) to conduct tax research, respond to notices, and remit tax payments multiple times per week.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely remittance of payroll tax payments (federal, state, and local) multiple times per week.
Interface directly with the IRS, state DoRs, and DoLs to resolve tax issues, research changes in tax laws, and respond to inquiries or audits.
Perform regular reconciliations of payroll tax liabilities and filings.
Maintain accurate records of all tax payments and communications for audit and compliance purposes.
Track and manage tax notices, resolve discrepancies, and ensure full compliance with applicable laws and filing deadlines.
Collaborate with payroll and finance teams to maintain accuracy in payroll processing and tax calculations.
Use tools such as Excel and Asana to manage tasks and track progress.
Support payroll-related projects and audits as needed.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years' experience in US payroll tax operations, with demonstrated experience interacting with tax agencies.
Strong knowledge of US federal and state payroll tax regulations.
High proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Experience with payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, etc.).
Strong written and verbal communication skills—you’ll regularly represent the company with agencies.
Extreme attention to detail—accuracy is critical, and deadlines cannot be missed.
Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to manage priorities in a remote setting.
Qualifications
Experience using Asana or other project/task management tools.
Multi-state payroll tax experience.
Familiarity with filing amended returns or prior period corrections.
This is a remote position, but you must be available to work Eastern Time hours from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods or deadlines.
