This is a unique opportunity for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive remote Legal Assistant to support a solo practitioner specializing in Lemon Law in California. The ideal candidate will be the primary point of contact for potential and existing clients, managing critical administrative and client-facing tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the practice. This role requires exceptional communication skills, a strong understanding of legal processes, and the ability to work independently in a virtual environment.
Key Responsibilities
Client Intake and Communication:
Answer incoming phone calls and act as the first point of contact for potential clients.
Conduct initial client screenings by asking pertinent questions to determine eligibility for lemon law claims.
Explain the firm's services and the lemon law process to prospective clients.
Manage and respond to client inquiries via phone and
Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding their case status and any required documentation.
Information Gathering and Management:
Gather and organize essential client information, including purchase agreements, repair orders, warranty documents, and other relevant case details.
Create and maintain digital client files, ensuring all documentation is accurately categorized and easily accessible.
Track client statuses (e.g., paid, sent details, awaiting documentation, case in progress, settlement reached).
Monitor and track contract signing and deposit payments.
Administrative and Case Support:
Prepare and draft legal documents, correspondence, and other case-related materials under the attorney's supervision.
Update the attorney regularly on the status of each client and case progression.
Assist with scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and coordinating meetings.
Perform general administrative tasks to support the efficient operation of the law practice.
Conduct basic legal research as needed to support case development.
Technology and Systems Management:
Utilize case management software and other digital tools for efficient workflow and record-keeping.
Maintain data integrity and confidentiality across all platforms.
Troubleshoot minor technical issues related to remote work tools and platforms.
Proactive Support and Business Development:
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the practice.
Assist in developing and implementing new procedures for client intake, case management, and communication.
Contribute to a positive and professional client experience, enhancing the firm's reputation.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a proven experience.
Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program is highly desirable.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in a remote setting.
Experience in a lemon law practice or consumer law is a significant advantage.

Legal Terminology and Documentation: Solid understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and legal document drafting.
