Who We Are:
We are Digital Recipe, a team of digital professionals passionate about helping small, local, and medium businesses grow their brands. We are hardcore problem-solving, custom code hacking, status-quo bucking, and out-of-the-box thinking digital chefs who design, develop, strategise, manage, optimise, and idealise. We are not only passionate about digital, we are obsessed with it.
Essentially, we are a digital marketing agency with a strong focus on search engine marketing, aiming to be the best at what we do! We’re headquartered in Sydney, NSW, Australia, with a growing team of superstars committed to working hard to ensure our clients succeed.
What We’re Looking For:
We need a mid-to-senior level Marketing Technology & Automation Lead to spearhead the integration, automation, and optimisation of our internal systems and client-facing solutions. This is a remote, full-time role for a highly technical, data-driven problem solver with strong strategic thinking and implementation skills.
You’ll be the bridge between marketing, operations, and technology, ensuring our tools and processes are seamlessly connected, automated, and delivering actionable insights, for both our internal team and client campaigns.
Responsibilities:
Your role will combine hands-on technical work with strategic system design:
- Systems & Tech Stack Architecture – Audit and unify our marketing and operational tools (Freshsales CRM, ClickUp, Slack, Zapier, Xero) into an integrated, automated ecosystem.
- Tag Management & Analytics – Implement and maintain Google Tag Manager (GTM), GA4, tracking pixels, event tracking, and server-side tracking across client sites (WordPress, Shopify, and more).
- API & Script Development – Build and maintain scripts using Google Ads API, SERP APIs, and other data sources for automation, reporting, and optimisation.
- Automation Engineering – Set up workflow automations (ClickUp, Zapier, APIs) to reduce manual work, improve accountability, and increase operational efficiency.
- Reporting & Insights – Create dashboards, automated reports, and visualisations for both internal KPIs and client campaign performance.
- Data Strategy – Recommend additional data collection opportunities, enhanced conversions, offline tracking, and parameters for richer insights.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work with SEO, PPC, and operations teams to ensure tracking, automation, and reporting align with business objectives.
- Process Optimisation – Refine business processes, create SOPs, and train internal teams on new systems and best practices.
- Troubleshooting & Support – Resolve technical tracking, API, or integration issues quickly and efficiently.
Growth Opportunities:
- Starting $1600 USD per month
- Competitive paid progression based on performance and scope of responsibility
- Remote work with excellent work/life balance
The Ideal Candidate:
You’re equal parts strategist and hands-on builder. You thrive on solving complex problems, streamlining workflows, and making tech “just work” for the people who need it.
- Strong initiative — you figure things out before asking.
- Results-oriented — you care about business impact, not just technical perfection.
- Strategic thinking — you see the big picture, but can roll up your sleeves to get things done.
- Exceptional problem-solving — you can untangle tracking issues, API hiccups, and workflow bottlenecks with ease.
What You Should Have:
Core Skills:
- 3+ years working in MarTech, marketing automation, or technical digital marketing roles.
- Expert-level Google Tag Manager and GA4 experience, including server-side tracking and enhanced conversions.
- Strong scripting skills (JavaScript, Google Ads Scripts, API integrations).
- Experience with SERP APIs, Google Ads API, and marketing data sources.
- Workflow automation experience (ClickUp, Zapier, Integromat, or similar).
- Deep knowledge of tracking integrations with CRMs (Zoho CRM preferred).
- Advanced spreadsheet skills (Google Sheets, Excel).
- Experience building dashboards (Google Data Studio/Looker Studio, Power BI, etc.).
Nice-to-Have:
- SEO and PPC campaign optimisation experience.
- Experience with CRO and A/B testing.
Other Requirements:
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data.
- Strong English proficiency (verbal and written).
- Ability to work AU time zone (Mon–Fri AEST).
- Willingness to do video calls and training sessions.
- Comfortable with remote work and managing your own schedule.
Our Values:
- Transparency – We’re honest about what works and what doesn’t, sharing data openly and making recommendations based on facts.
- Trust – We take ownership of our work as if it were our own business.
- Flexibility – We adapt quickly, automate smartly, and focus our time where it matters most.
- Results – We make data-driven decisions and let performance speak for itself.
