JOB OVERVIEW

3D Artist (D5 Specialist) – Full-Time | Remote | AU$1,200/month

Salary: AUD $1,200 per month

Location: Philippines
Type: Full-time (Mon – Fri, Western Australian business hours, UTC +8)
Reporting to: Head of 3D Design
Collaborates with: Head of 3D Design, 3D Artists, Project Managers, Animation & Real-Time Leads

Role Overview

3D Walkabout is seeking a D5 Specialist 3D Artist to join our growing visualisation team. You’ll be responsible for creating high-quality architectural animations and CGI walkthroughs using D5 Render, producing everything from short cinematic reels for social media to longer production-quality visualisations for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

This role is ideal for a creative, detail-oriented 3D artist who thrives in a collaborative studio-style environment, working alongside our Australian and international teams on some of the most advanced visualisation projects in the region.

Tools & Software

Essential

- D5 Render Engine (primary tool for animation and rendering)
- SketchUp (for D5 sync)
- D5 Pro account and SKP 2024 licences are required

This role requires a powerful rendering workstation. Ideally, you will be working on a desktop computer with a strong GPU - nothing lower than an NVIDIA RTX 3080 - as our projects are highly graphics intensive. A high-end gaming laptop with an equivalent GPU is acceptable; however, you must have access to a reliable, high-performance rendering machine capable of handling complex scenes and animations, along with the required software licences listed below.

Preferred

- 3ds Max (occasional modelling support)
- Blender (modelling, scene preparation, and asset setup)
- Substance Painter, Quixel Mixer (texture authoring)
- Photoshop or GIMP (basic texture adjustments)
- Shared network drives, NAS/local render queue systems
- Bonus: Unreal Engine or Unity (for real-time export & testing)

What You’ll Be Doing

- Architectural Animation & Rendering (D5)
- Create photo-realistic architectural animations in D5 Render - from short 10–15 second social clips to full cinematic property showcases.
- Develop interior and exterior environments with realistic lighting, textures, and camera movement.
- Produce CGI walkthroughs by generating and capturing 360° panoramas in D5 and integrating them into Matterport tours
- Maintain consistent quality, realism, and atmosphere across projects.
- D5 phased animations is a bonus and also some key frame movement for dynamic building animations
- Clients will often have complicated landscaping and design plans that need to be followed, including detailed material schedules, requiring a high level of accuracy when representing their designs.

3D Modelling & Scene Setup

- Build clean, modular 3D models for architecture, interiors, props, and landscapes.
- Optimise geometry, materials, and scene structure for efficient D5 rendering and smooth animation playback.
- Ensure logical scene organisation, naming conventions, and asset linking for team workflows.

Texturing & Look Development

- Create and apply high-quality materials and lighting setups tailored for PBR and raytraced pipelines.
- Refine shaders and lighting to achieve cinematic-quality results that meet both aesthetic and technical standards.
- Collaborate with the Head of 3D Design and other tea ---------- mbers to align look development across projects.

Team-Based Production Workflow

- Work collaboratively with the broader 3D and animation teams using shared file systems and render resources.
- Participate in internal reviews and iterate based on feedback.
- Help refine and document studio best practices for D5 workflows and rendering standards.

Growth & Creative Development

- Stay up to date with D5 updates, techniques, and plug-ins.
- Expand into real-time 3D, VR, and cinematic workflows over time.
- Bring creativity, initiative, and a sense of ownership to every project.

About You

- 4+ years’ experience in 3D visualisation, architectural animation, or environment design.
- Expert in D5 Render, with a strong eye for lighting, materials, and cinematic presentation.
- Skilled in SketchUp for modelling and scene preparation.
- Solid understanding of PBR materials, UV workflows, and render optimisation.
- Experience producing interior and exterior architectural animations and CGI walkthroughs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Bonus: Experience integrating D5 panoramas into Matterport for virtual walkthroughs.

What You’ll Get

- The opportunity to work under the mentorship of an experienced Head of 3D Design.
- A diverse portfolio of architectural and immersive visualisation projects across Australia.
- Exposure to cutting-edge 3D, VR, and AR workflows.
- A chance to grow your career in one of Australia’s leading immersive tech studios.

About Us

3D Walkabout is an Australian 3D visualisation and XR studio delivering world-class 3D, VR, and AR content for clients across the property, infrastructure, education, and industrial sectors. Our goal is to bring spaces and products to life through immersive, cinematic storytelling — and we’re looking for talented D5 artists to help make it happen.

How to Apply

Send us:

- Your CV or LinkedIn profile
- A portfolio or showreel highlighting your best D5 Render work (must include animation samples)
- A short message outlining your experience with D5 and architectural animation
