Publicity Coordinator / PR Support Specialist (Remote)

We’re seeking a long-term, remote Publicity Coordinator / PR Support Specialist to assist with media outreach, publicity administration, press release drafting, newsletter creation, and campaign coordination across multiple cultural and publishing projects.

This role is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of PR or media outreach experience who is highly committed, detail-oriented, and excited to grow with the company long term.

Current & Upcoming Projects Include
- ICONIC BEATS: Easy Mo Bee’s Unforgettable Tracks for Biggie, Tupac, & Hip-Hop’s Greatest
- Hip-Hop 50th Birthday Campaigns (August)
- House Music 101 Legacy Project
- Additional WCIP author publicity campaigns and cultural marketing launches

Key Responsibilities
- Draft and distribute press releases (templates and guidance provided)
- Send press releases and follow-up pitches to media contacts
- Manage and update media lists, contacts, and CRM records
- Conduct follow-ups via email and light phone outreach (scripts provided)
- Coordinate interview bookings, podcasts, and press appearances
- Send author bios, headshots, and media kits to media partners
- Track press outreach, placements, and reporting in shared documents
- Become highly familiar with WCIP books and authors to:
- Create a weekly newsletter featuring select titles
- Curate book highlights based on seasons, cultural ---------- nts, releases, and current events
- Align newsletter content with ongoing PR campaigns and promotions
- Provide PR and content support across multiple WCIP projects beyond current launches

Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum 1 year experience in PR, publicity, media outreach, or related support roles
- Strong writing skills, especially for press releases and media correspondence
- Familiarity with African American culture, hip-hop, and entertainment media
- Knowledge of Black media outlets, cultural trends, and community platforms is a plus
- Experience with virtual assistance, administrative support, or CRM tools
- Comfortable with professional follow-ups via email and phone
- Proficient in Microsoft Office & Google Docs, Sheets, and shared tracking tools (or willing to learn)
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple campaigns remotely
- Seeking a long-term PR professional who is highly committed, reliable, and consistent with their work
- Available to work Monday–Friday during EST business hours
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently

Compensation:
- Base Rate: $5/hour USD

Incentive Increases: Up to $9/hour USD, based on:
- Demonstrated PR writing experience (press release samples)
- Proven media outreach or placement success
- Ability to independently manage outreach campaigns
- Project Bonuses: Available for securing major placements, podcast bookings, or influencer collaborations
