Work for a US online home goods retailer & enjoy a flexible work schedule
We are looking for a new CFO (Head of Finance) who will help us build and manage a new finance team.
With assistance from the CEO, you will recruit and manage a team of 3-4 people.
Most of your daily work will compromise of the regular individual contributor finance activities. Only a small portion of your time will be dedicated to management responsibilities (recruiting and managing a team).
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, position. We’re looking for long-term cooperation only.
This job will require a daily 2-hour meeting with the CEO during US hours (between 10 AM and 10 PM New York time) at the beginning. Over time, the meeting hours will be reduced.
Other than meetings, the schedule is fully flexible and you choose your own work hours.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews and categorizes QuickBooks transactions every day
- Records supplier invoices (bills) and matches them with our orders
- Verifies accuracy of transactions and makes sure they’re correctly entered
- Assigns transactions to vendors and customers
- In case of discrepancies, reach out to our vendors (suppliers) to reconcile everything. Most of the time is done through
- Keeps track of credit memos, making sure that they are applied towards future invoices
- Handles our US sales tax accounts with states, ensures that we file tax payments on time (we use TaxJar)
- Ensures that we don’t overpay sales tax to suppliers or to the states. If tax is overpaid, work with suppliers and states to get tax refunds.
- Aids in the handling of tax forms (sales tax only, you will not be responsible for income tax or payroll tax)
- Performs accounts reconciliations every month
- Monitors Accounts Receivable
- Profit Loss & Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Analyzes unprofitable orders to find the loss causes
Additional duties as the head of the team:
- Recruiting & hiring of new teaUpgrade to see actual infombers
- Team management
- Ensuring your team’s success
- Ensuring all Finance team projects are completed
- Performance management
- Regular communication with the CEO
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Finance
- Minimum 2 years experience with QuickBooks Online Accounting Software
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a bookkeeper
- Minimum 1 year of experience leading a team
- Excellent written and oral communication skills (English Language)
- Experience in reconciling bank accounts and/or credit cards
- Experience with ecommerce or retail industry is nice to have
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles like double-entry bookkeeping, accrual-basis, P&L statements, balance sheets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation
- Experience with TaxJar is a plus
- Google Sheets or Excel skills
- Attentive to details
- Full-time (40 hours per week) availability
Compensation & Benefits:
