Advertising Research Assistant Job
Bay City News is seeking a part-time research assistant to help our team find advertising sales prospects (aka sponsors) for our websites and newsletters. The ad researcher will work an average of 8-16 hours per week, supporting clients and the sales team and managing the websites, social media platforms and several newsletters, all of which are part of the ad package program.
The successful applicant will be skilled at using web searches to find potential advertisers in the San Francisco Bay Area and parts of Northern California who might be interested in getting their brands in front of our audiences on two digital news sites: The Mendocino Voice (
The assistant will organize prospects in a spreadsheet that will show:
business or organization name
type of business
Interest areas (such as arts/culture, aging and longevity, local news, specific cities or counties, wine, tourism, youth and education, etc.)
other publications where they have advertised
contact information, and
other details to help our ad sales team.
Candidate Requirements
Advanced competence in researching, writing, editing
Strong American English verbal and written communication skills dealing with clients and colleagues
Ability to meet short deadlines with an eye for detail and accuracy
Ability to adapt to new technologies as the business adopts new platforms, usually Microsoft-based tools or WordPress-based platforms plus Broadstreet for ad management
Bonus Skills
Journalism experience a strong plus
Familiarity with the Broadstreet ad management system
