Summary
The Estate Planning/Elder Law Drafting Paralegal will support the estate planning division by handling the preparation of estate planning documents and managing parts of the estate planning process. To be successful in this role, the Paralegal will need to be familiar with the majority of the documents prepared by a law firm focusing on Elder Law. The Paralegal must be able to thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment. Ideal candidate does NOT need to work daily hours of the law firm.
Responsibilities
Draft and prepare estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives
• Make sure that all documents that the Attorney will present to the client are complete and accurate.
• Provide Quality Control over all documents going out of the Estate Planning department.
• Support of other Estate Administration/Medicaid Paralegals in preparation of documents such as accountings and spreadsheets.
• Utilize computerized document assembly systems to draft complex estate planning documents, including revocable and asset protection trusts, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives.
• Review many types of draft documents for accuracy, spelling, grammar, and consistency between documents.
• Participate in regular virtual meetings with the Estate Planning team weekly to debrief where all clients are in the process as well as make the Estate Planning Attorney aware of any actual or potential problems.
Requirements for Ideal Candidate:
Fluency in in the English language, both written and spoken.
Proficiency with use of Wealth Counsel
Liaise with the legal team to gather necessary information and clarify estate planning requirements.
Maintain and organize legal documents and client files.
Flexibility to participate in regular tea
Bachelor’s Degree and American paralegal certificate or 2 plus years of American law firm, estate planning document drafting experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
Reliable computer and internet access to facilitate remote work.
